San Antonio: A charming destination in Ibiza

There is a long list of charming towns and places in Ibiza. One of these places is Sant Antoni de Portmany, a small fishing town, which has seen considerable development due to tourism, and now offers a wide variety of things to do with a focus on sun, sea and sand.

Today’s blog entry talks about this tourist destination, which has become one of the most important towns in Ibiza!

Sunset strip

Holidays in Ibiza aren’t holidays if you don’t go to see the sunset on the coast of San Antonio. This sunset is one of the most famous in the whole world and day after day thousands of tourists flock there to admire it. In the meantime, they listen to chillout tracks and have a cocktail at the famous Café del Mar or Café Mambo. The coast of San Antonio is home to endless hotels including Hotel Don Pepe and Hotel Formentera I and II, an ideal spot if you want to stay near this destination.

Clubbing

If you’re into clubbing and nightlife, San Antonio has plenty in the way of nighttime entertainment: Es Paradis, Eden, Amnesia, Privilege and the famous West End. They have been iconic clubs for years and have taken the name of San Antonio to each and every corner of the planet.

Beaches

Although it’s not exactly famous for its beaches, San Antonio does have quite a number that are just good as many in other areas of the island. These include Cala Salada, a small spot seventy-five metres long with fishermen’s huts and rocks on its coast, surrounded by plant life and scenery that you won’t forget. Plus, there’s also Cala Gracio, S’Arenal and Es Pueto.

Sights

Apart from the sun and beaches, San Antonio has a vibrant culture. Highlights include the Columbus statue in Passeig de Ses Fonts. This monument was built in Passeig de Ses Fonts to honour the memory of Christopher Columbus who is rumoured to have been born in this small town.  The Molí d’en Simó flour mill, Sa Cova de Ses LLagostes, its church and Sa Punta d’es Molí water mill. These are few of the most important points if you’re a culture or history buff.

If you’re seeking accommodation in Sant Antoni de Portmany, Playasol Ibiza Hotels has seven hotels and apartments in the centre as well as eight in San Antonio Bay. The best value for money on the island! So… what are you waiting for?
